Design Brief

I have to learn how to use Microsoft Publisher to produce a good quality of business forms. For example, how to include symbols, how to decorate, and others. Requesting the solution will come after the planning step. I need to know how to use and apply it in the form of business to match the kind.

These are some of the forms I am going to create :

1. Research what the client needs
2. Review how to use Microsoft Publisher 2007 (Take a look at tutorials)
3. Create logo with mockingbird in the design.

I will create my solution after I feel confident about using Microsoft Publisher 2007. I will know that the steps will work since the task given. However, I need to be careful not to miss any forms that are required to be created.

Investigation (Business)

While I am at the stage of investigating the desktop publishing, I need to identify the conflicts which may come up during my project. I am required to produce a design brief and formulate a design specification. First, I need to know how to use Microsoft Publisher 2007. I will view the tutorials which are on the home page of Grade 7 IDT. I also need to know the information I need to include in the advertisements. I should be careful not to exclude any forms of advertisements Thomas Zadick , the owner asked for.

The problem in this case is how to apply the skills of using Publisher in the form of a business request.

These are examples of questions I need to consider:
oWhat are some of the different layouts or forms I could use for this project?
o What software would be suitable for creating this project? Etc
o Who will my client be?
o What does the client want? (Interview with the client is for this purpose ..)

I need to use the appropriate layouts and forms for this project. If Thomas Zadick asked for an invitation for the Grand Opening, it can't be the same layout as an invitation for a birthday party. I can use the formats which suits the best for a business. Additionaly, the colors should match the ones which Zadick asked for. For this project, Microsoft Publisher would suit the best because it includes all the forms I need to create. It also ables me to include my own logos. My client would be people who would come to The Mockingbird Antique Mall. I need to design forms and advertisements which would persuade the customers to come. To find out what the client wants (the kind of funitures, the popular celebreties, etc.) I need to interview the clients in this case.

Communication and the Internet

Many types of communication are used around the globe. Most forms are synchronous. Which means, they are occuring at the same time. The opposite of this is asynchronous. Blogging, podcasting, IMing, email, and others can all be done at the synchronously. Podcasting is done at the same time where same information is send to various people. However, emails and blogging can be done and seen at any time. Even at midnight. No specific software is needed to send emails and update blogs. All you need to do is sign in and make your username and password.
It is and easy way to communicate and connect our world.

Investigation:
Communication is very important during an emergency because if there are misunderstandings,
the problems can get worse. During a natural disaster, it is difficult to communicate in the internet. Internet connection may be disturbed by many situations. The wire may be broken because of earthquakes or other disasters.
The form of communication which was used in recent disasters were speakers. Speakers were used to help and tell people where to evacuate and other important news. Information such as where to get food and water and where to evacuate until the disaster gets settled needs to be communicated during an emergency. If these data were not told, evacuees would starve and have a hard time. The place to evacuate if there was a sudden disaster can be reported before it happens. Therefore, when the disaster strikes, people would not be very panicked. It would be better to plan ahead during these occasions.
A computer or any connection device of the internet is required to communicate online.

MYP Design Cycle

This design cycle is used as a part of the MYP criculum. There are four major parts in this cycle. They are, investigate, design, plan, and evaluate.
In each steps, they are broken into more detailed parts. It is used when there is a personal project to complete or building models from scratch. It can be used in variety or areas.
In the first step of investigate, the problem which appear while working needs to be identifyed. Next, it requires you to design and come up with a satisfied plan. Finally, you create the product. Then you need to think of the solution and reflect back on how well you have done the whole step.
